Trip to Kyushu (Day 1)

I finally had the chance to travel! This time my mum, 2 aunts and I flew from Singapore to Fukuoka direct via Singapore Airlines. I chose the seat away from the wing so that we will be able to catch the sunrise!

The best view on the plane. Beautiful sunrise.
Flight was from 1am till 8am. Fukuoka's airport is really near the town area so our hotel was only 3 train stations away. Our hotel was JR Hakata Blossom Hotel. From the picture below, you will be able to see how near the hotel is to the train station. It is really just opposite. From the reviews I saw online, most people said to take the west exit, exit 18 to get to the hotel. We did that the first day there but there was the horrible flight of stairs that we had to climb with our large luggages. We realised that it was much easier for us to just cross the road from the train station. The hotel's entrance is not very obvious but once we found it, it was easy. The location was great and everything was around the hotel and there are many things near the hotel and train station. There is a Ichiran ramen branch right below the hotel! How great is that. The only thing is that as the hotel is very near the airport, there is no arrangement of mini vans of any kind available. On our last day, we took a taxi to the airport that cost 1300YEN (S$16.90). It was a better option for us as our luggages were super heavy after many days of shopping :X Oh! There's free wi-fi in every room!

Entrance of the hotel and JR station in the background.

The lobby.

Pretty spacious for Japan's hotel

Love the floor here.

The flush is beside the toilet bowl.
These pictures were taken after we checked in at night. As we arrived in Fukuoka really early, we left our luggages there and headed out. We went to JR Hakata station to exchange for our Kyushu Rail pass that will be valid or 5 days.

We took the 5 day northen kyushu pass.
First stop in Dazaifu was lunch!
As Kyushu is well known for their Tonkotsu ramen, we decided to have ramen for lunch.

Where we had our ramen.

Look at the egg!
This ramen shop has the same ordering system as Ichiran Ramen however, Ichiran Ramen is better in my opinion.

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine area

There is a short shopping street before arriving at the entrance that has lots of street food and popular kyushu snacks!
Mentaiko Pretz

Map of the vicinity.

Pretty plum flowers.

The pretty view.

The 4 of us.

:D

So pretty!

As we will pass by Tenjin on the way back, we took a short walk at the shopping arcade.

Japan's super market will always have sale at around 8.30pm so we got our dinner there!
Fried food overload.

This was really good!
